TravelSync connects to your calendar and your email to do its job. That means it holds access to some genuinely personal things, the small details of your working week. We didn't want you to just take our word that we look after all that properly. So we had it checked by someone with no reason to go easy on us. We passed.
What we actually did
We put TravelSync through something called CASA Tier 2. The acronym stands for Cloud Application Security Assessment, which is a mouthful, so most people never bother decoding it. It's an independent security review, measured against a recognised industry standard called OWASP ASVS Level 2.
That standard is essentially a long, detailed checklist of the things a well-built, secure app should do, and the things it should never do. An outside security lab went through the app against that list, looking for weaknesses that could put your data at risk, and checked that we'd done the sensible things the sensible way.
The result
We passed. All fourteen categories came back clear, with no high-risk issues and nothing that needed fixing afterwards. We were quietly pleased about that, because "nothing to fix" is the result you hope for and not always the one you get.
What it means for you
In practical terms:
- Your calendar and email data is handled to a recognised security standard, not just our best guess at one.
- An independent third party has checked our homework, rather than us marking it ourselves.
- The result is dated and current. These assessments are renewed every year, so it isn't a badge we earned once and quietly forgot about.
The honest bit
Passing a security assessment doesn't make an app bulletproof, and anyone who tells you otherwise is probably selling something. What it does mean is that we've been measured against a serious standard and held up well under proper scrutiny. We'd rather tell you that plainly than dress it up as something it isn't.
We deal with where you're going, who you're seeing and what's sitting in your inbox. That deserves real care, and real care should be something you can check, not something you're asked to trust blind.
There's one more security milestone we're working through behind the scenes. We'll share that when it's signed off, and not a minute before.
Thanks, as always, for trusting us with the boring-but-important bits of your week.
